Telegram Bot Broadcast Personalization: Names, Message Variants and Links

Not every Telegram broadcast link needs to be different. Use one destination for a campaign when everyone needs the same page; use segment links when different topics need different pages. Per-person links are optional when a defined workflow needs them. Changing text or URLs does not make unsolicited sending valid or provide an anti-spam guarantee.

For an ordinary private-chat bot broadcast, begin with people who have started your bot and selected the updates they want. Personalization then means matching a stored preference to useful copy, with a readable greeting and a working destination. A phone-number list alone is not a bot subscriber list.

1. Build a small subscriber record

Keep the private chat identifier captured through your bot interaction alongside a preferred name, selected topic, message variant and destination key. Store subscription status and the time of the preference change separately. The table below uses fictional identifiers and relative example destinations; replace them with your own validated records and complete HTTPS URLs.

Use one record per subscriber rather than one shared variable for the latest topic. Otherwise, one person's choice can overwrite another person's message. The same habit helps when preparing a Telegram contact database segmentation plan, but bot records must come from your own bot interactions.

2. Let subscribers choose a topic

After the welcome message, offer callback buttons such as Workshops and New releases. Telegram supports callback data on inline buttons; your handler receives the choice and writes it to that subscriber's record. Acknowledge the selection, show the current preference, and offer a way to change it or stop updates.

For a simple first version, allow one active topic. Before scheduling a workshop reminder, filter for active subscribers whose saved topic is Workshops. Do not infer a preference from a display name or assume that starting the bot means requesting every future campaign. Review Telegram contacts and bot start message access before importing any outside audience.

Save each subscriber's selected topic, then choose matching copy and a relevant destination.

3. Render the greeting, copy and button together

Choose the variant from the topic, then build a complete outgoing message. For Maya, the result might be: Hi Maya, your workshop schedule is ready. For a blank name, use: Hello, your new-release summary is ready. Keep the button label specific: View workshop schedule or Read release summary.

A template token such as {name} belongs to your application or bot constructor. It is not a universal Telegram placeholder. Replace it before calling sendMessage; passing the literal token can display {name} to the subscriber. Telegram's User object includes first_name, but your greeting can instead use a name the subscriber chose.

Keep destination selection in a small approved mapping: Workshops resolves to the workshop page, and New releases resolves to the release page. If no mapping exists, hold the message for review. Never silently send the wrong offer because a destination is missing.

4. Choose links for relevance and measurement

Start with a campaign or segment code shared by the relevant audience, such as c=oct-workshop. Use opaque, non-sensitive codes and keep their meaning in your own reporting system. Do not put names, phone numbers, chat identifiers or sensitive topic descriptions into public URLs. A link can be copied, logged or forwarded.

For community destinations, follow the Telegram bot button and group invite guide. A separately created invite link can help distinguish a campaign, but it is not inherently bound to the intended person's identity. Someone can forward it. Use the destination's access controls when admission matters.

5. Preview edge cases, then send a small test

Preview a missing name, a name containing formatting characters, every topic variant, a wrong-segment record and a missing URL. If using HTML or Markdown formatting, escape inserted values according to that format, or use plain text. Open every button and check the final destination on a phone.

Send first to internal test accounts, then to selected subscribers who requested that topic. Check Telegram API responses and record failures before expanding the campaign. Follow Telegram's current broadcasting guidance and handle rate-limit responses; names and alternate links do not remove delivery constraints.

6. Measure separate events

Record an accepted send, a measured link click, a confirmed community join and a purchase as different events. A successful API response does not prove a click or purchase. Define how your destination records conversions before comparing variants, and account for forwarded links when interpreting campaign attribution.

PSYKE is not a Telegram bot sender and does not supply bot chat IDs or an anti-ban mechanism. Keep subscriber collection, rendering and delivery in your own bot or chosen bot platform. If a separate preparation task involves assessing your own phone-number list, consult the Telegram checking product for its supported checks. That result does not create a bot subscription or permission to message.

Frequently asked questions

Must every recipient receive a unique link?

No. A shared campaign link is suitable when the destination is the same. Use segment links for different destinations and per-person links only when a specific workflow needs them.

Will Telegram replace {name} automatically?

No. Your application or constructor must replace its own template tokens before sending. Preview both populated and missing-name cases.

Does personalization guarantee delivery?

No. Relevant copy does not override subscriber access, subscription choices, API limits or delivery failures. Handle those conditions separately.
