History

Viber was founded in 2010 in Tel Aviv by Talmon Marco and Igor Magazinnik. The Japanese group Rakuten acquired Viber Media in February 2014 for about US$900 million, and the product was renamed Rakuten Viber in 2017. It has since grown into one of the leading messengers of Eastern Europe and parts of Asia.

How many people use Viber?

Rakuten reported that Viber had over 1.55 billion registered users as of the end of September 2024. Registered users are a cumulative sign-up count rather than a current active-user figure — Rakuten’s last published monthly-active number was 290 million in 2021.

A Viber number check tells you which phone numbers in a list are actually connected to Viber — before you spend budget messaging or advertising to them. You upload a list of numbers, we verify each one against Viber, and you download a clean report marking which are registered and which are not. Nothing is ever sent to the numbers you check, so the people on your list are never contacted or notified during verification.

Viber verification here goes deeper than a plain registration lookup. Beyond confirming that a number has a Viber account, the activity tier flags numbers behind accounts that are actually in use, and the profile tier returns public attributes where Viber exposes them. That lets you filter a raw list down to reachable, relevant contacts in one pass instead of guessing.

Every check is priced per number and the rate is shown before you run anything, so a large list has no surprise cost. Results come back as a downloadable report you can feed straight back into your CRM, dialer or ad audience.

How Viber number checking works

  1. Upload your list

Bring your numbers as a plain list — any common format. They are normalised to E.164 (correct country code and national length) so malformed rows do not silently fail.

  2. Checked against Viber

Each number is verified against Viber for the tiers you selected — registration and, where available, activity and profile signals.

  3. Download a clean report

You get a per-number report marking each result, ready to import back into your tools. The people on your list are never messaged during the check.
